About Us

SchmatzGut. That's us.

We are a small, independent family business from Münster with a clear vision: honest food that nourishes. For body, mind, and community.

Behind SchmatzGut are people with a sense of purpose. People who cook with genuine passion, get things done, and ensure every day that good ingredients create reliable, child-friendly, and wholesome meals.

What began as a personal project is now a growing company with two divisions:

  • The SchmatzGut kitchen offers fresh, vegan daycare catering and healthy everyday meals for families and businesses.
  • The SchmatzGut factory develops handmade products from the finest ingredients. These include fermented vegetables, broths, spreads, and other specialties with a high level of taste, effectiveness, and quality.

Who is behind it

SchmatzGut was founded by Dirk Kokoschinek, a father, nature lover, and quality manager with over 15 years of experience in food safety and sustainable management. Dirk brings extensive knowledge of the food and pharmaceutical industries. He is also a passionate gardener and chef, and knows the value of healthy soil and honest food from his own experience.

His motivation is simple.

I want my son to grow up with good food. Without compromising on quality, origin, or ethics. And I believe many families want exactly the same thing.

What is important to us

At SchmatzGut, we work closely with people who share our values: educators, parents, producers, and partners. We're small enough to remain personal, yet professional enough to meet the highest standards.

SchmatzGut is meant to grow. But carefully. Together, transparently, and with real added value for children, families, and our region.

  • Our quality and safety principles
