Our philosophy
What drives us
SchmatzGut isn't about trends or marketing promises. It's about good food that's produced sensibly. It's about honest ingredients you can understand. And it's about an attitude that goes beyond cooking.
We see food as a responsibility. For the children who eat it every day, for the soil in which it grows, and for the people who prepare it.
We believe that quality begins where there's no cheating. Where origins are seamless. And where it's better to ask too many questions than to look too little.
That's why we work with ingredients that are as regional and seasonal as possible. Preferably organic, even though we aren't certified and therefore can't advertise it. What's inside counts, not the label.
Kitchen with attitude
The SchmatzGut kitchen is our answer to what's missing in many cafeterias, daycare centers, and canteens: real food with nutritional value and flavor. We cook vegan, fresh, child-friendly, and systematically.
Each dish is designed to not only satisfy but also nourish. We pay attention to nutrient density, avoid unnecessary additives, and rely on natural ingredients that work.
Our recipes are clearly structured and seasonally inspired. We think from the child's perspective, not from the point of view of the product.
And because we take children seriously, we don't serve junk food. Instead, we serve delicious, healthy food that works without pressure. With stories, little heroes, and enough room for curiosity instead of pressure.
Our factory
The SchmatzGut factory creates something that is often forgotten elsewhere: handmade products that are well thought out.
Our broths, ferments, spreads, and jams aren't designed to fill shelves. They're meant to provide for people. They're born from ideas, from experiments, from the desire to meaningfully combine taste, health, and shelf life.
We work with long cooking times, natural processes, and gentle processing. No additives, no artificial preservation. Instead, we rely on genuine knowledge of microbiology, preservation, and flavor.
Every product goes through a clear process, from ingredient selection to hand-labeling. Not because it sounds romantic, but because we know what we're doing.
Sustainability? Everyday life.
We don't just talk about it, we live it. We compost our kitchen scraps. We use 100 percent green electricity. We plan in cycles, not quarterly figures.
We cook, process, and deliver as efficiently as possible. We prefer short journeys by cargo bike to large freight companies. We prefer replaceable glass jars to disposable packaging.
We avoid greenwashing because we don't need it. What we do isn't perfect. But it's honest, transparent, and scrutinized daily.
What we don't do
We don't make empty promises.
We don't cook for likes.
We don't do catering just because it looks good.
We make good food. For children. For families. For people who want more than just to be full.
